On the occasion of the great scientist's 459th birthday, Museo Galileo is offering two interesting initiatives.
Wednesday February 15, at 3 p.m., in "Storia e scienza del gelato" the Florentine Ice Cream Makers Association will introduce participants to the history and evolution of artisanal ice cream. At the end of the meeting, a tasty sample of this dessert will be offered to participants.
The event is part of the initiatives organised within the Festa della Toscana.
Thursday February 16, at 4 p.m., two great figures of the past, Galileo and Vespucci, will stage an "impossible conversation" about the instruments made by Galileo Galilei for the discovery of new skies and the nautical instruments used by Amerigo Vespucci in his transoceanic explorations to discover new terrestrial worlds.
The activity "Galileo and Vespucci in Search of New Worlds" was designed as part of the European project VAST, dedicated to the study of the evolution of European values across space and time. In this context, at the end of the performance, the audience will be involved in the discussion about the values that emerged from the dialogue between the two protagonists.
Both events will be held in Italian.
During the two-day celebrations, a work created by artist Stella Battaglia, Galileo. Scenic Sculpture with Video Projection will be on display.
