Digital Library Catalogue

Up until today, the Museo Galileo Digital Library has been publishing about 6,000 works of historical scientific interest, equivalent to a total amount of 2,500,000 pages. It is a documental heritage consisting not only of books and manuscripts—most of them rare and hard to find—but also of a remarkable picture collections, including about 2,500 period photographs. Videos and slides implement the Digital Library.

The whole of digital collections can be searched through a research system based on an integrated database.

The Museo Galileo Digital Library publishes digital collections on themes of interest to the history of science. It consists of digital collections representing documents of different types, such as printed works, manuscripts, photographs, and objects, scientific instruments in particular. The Museo Galileo Digital Library may thus be considered an information system used to consult the wealth of knowledge offered by the thematic collections as a whole, consisting of digital resources in various formats – images, texts, video, audio, etc.

The Museo Galileo created a digital library section constituted of thematic collections of historical-scientific interest. The section supports, moreover, the research activities and online services of the periodicals Nuncius and Galilæana.
