As part of Chiara Bettazzi’s exhibition "Standby. Installation view", running through July 23rd, 2023 at MAD Murate Art District, Museo Galileo is proposing a workshop on the camera obscura that will be held in Italian on June 17th and 23rd at MAD.
The workshop will provide first-hand experience of the fascinating power of the camera obscura and magic lantern, themes addressed by the artist within the exhibition. From the experiences of the artists of the past, such as Vermeer and Canaletto, who used the camera obscura as a tool, merging science and art in the practice of drawing, to the artistic journey that influenced modern art.
From the painting of the Impressionists to the advent of photography, it will be possible to discover how the camera obscura shaped the development of art movements between the 19th and 20th centuries.
