Wednesday, March 15 at 18:30 Museo Galileo will host the launch of the first novel written by Carlo Vecce, Il sorriso di Caterina. La madre di Leonardo (Giunti Editore 2023), a fascinating journey through different ages, countries and cultures. The author - who is a world known Renaissance and Leonardo scholar - was inspired by the discovery of some documents that cast a new light on Da Vinci’s origins to reconstruct his mother’s exciting story.
The book will be launched by Carlo Vecce, Paolo Galluzzi (Accademia dei Lincei) and by the writer Helena Janeczek.

A scholar of the Renaissance civilisation, Carlo Vecce has dedicated himself above all to the figure and work of Leonardo da Vinci. For Giunti he published, with Carlo Pedretti, Libro di pittura (1995) and Codice Arundel (1998), and numerous other essays, up to the recent La biblioteca di Leonardo (2021). He has directed several cultural cooperation programmes in India and China, and was seconded to the Accademia dei Lincei. He is currently teaching at the University of Naples L'Orientale.
