On December 3, 2021, Paolo Brenni, a great expert on scientific instruments from the early 18th century to the mid-20th century, passed away prematurely. Swiss by birth, Brenni always considered Italy his second home: he collaborated with many Italian institutions, both public and private - museums, universities, schools - in the study, restoration and enhancement of their scientific instrument collections.
One year after, the Italian Society of Historians of Physics and Astronomy (SISFA) and the Museo Galileo, under the patronage of the Italian Society for the History of Science (SISS), would like to celebrate Paolo Brenni as one of their most active members and collaborators: the conference “La Scienza degli Strumenti: Riflessioni e Studi”, that will take place on December 14, 2022, is dedicated to different aspects of the study of scientific instruments and their makers, as well as to the problems that often plague museum collections. The initiative will be followed on December 15 by a commemorative event curated by the Museo dei Mezzi di Comunicazione (MUMEC) in Arezzo.
Free admission upon reservation. Live streaming on the museum's YouTube channel and Facebook page.
