In the last decades the collaboration between museums and schools has led to the introduction and testing of new teaching methods. The European project Virtual Pathways-Reinforcing school-museum cooperation in Covid-19 was born in this context and includes the participation of Museo Galileo, which has been involved for years in the research of new languages and models to disseminate scientific culture.
Sharing and increasing digital resources to develop interdisciplinary activities, based on investigation in informal environments, providing tools and contents to integrate science teaching, as well as stimulating students, are among the objectives that our museum, in synergy with educational institutions, aims to achieve through the project.
Astronomy and Galileo's new world are the themes chosen to fascinate the students taking part in the project.
Teachers joining the project will be provided with structured material that will enable them to get acquainted with a new teaching methodology: content guidelines, tasks for students and in-depth information on school programmes.
On March 24, our Educational and European Project Departments will present to teachers the methodology used for the creation of learning paths, which includes the active participation of teachers and students through three phases: before, during and after the visit.
At the end of the meeting a museum operator will accompany teachers in a visit to the Medici and Lorraine collections.
