As part of the initiative “Firenze dei bambini”, promoted by the Municipality of Florence from 1st to 3rd October 2021, Museo Galileo is pleased to propose - on October 2, at 11.00 am - Dante. Quanta scienza nella Commedia!, a fascinating activity to investigate science within Dante’s Divina Commedia.
Through the halls of Palazzo Castellani, a very ancient building inserted in the oldest city walls of Florence, the operator will talk about the dimensions of the Earth known to Dante, as well as about Galileo's studies on the shape and size of the infernal abyss and on the structure of Dante's heavens and paradise. Particular focus will be given to the description of natural phenomena in the Divine Comedy: from the movement of the stars to physical and mechanical phenomena, up to the manifestations associated with light.
The activity will be held in Italian and participation is free of charge.
