Founded in 2020, thanks to the support of Regione Toscana, on the basis of a memorandum of understanding among the University Museum System (Sistema Museale di Ateneo) of Florence, Museo Galileo and the Museo Leonardiano in Vinci, the Tuscan Network of Scientific Museums (RTMS) is a thematic network that connects similar museums with the aim of enhancing, disseminating, studying and researching, but above all of promoting innovative strategies and shared activities.
Starting from today, the website of the Rete Toscana dei Musei Scientifici is online: users can browse through fascinating collections, discover rare finds and get to know the characters of science in Tuscany.
While a joint program of activities for the next few months is about to be launched, the network is already expanding with new members. Five other scientific museums located throughout the area will join: the Fondazione Scienza e Tecnica and Il Giardino di Archimede - Un Museo per la Matematica in Florence, the Museo di Storia Naturale del Mediterraneo in Livorno, the Fondazione Museo del Tessuto and the Museo di Scienze Planetarie in Prato.
