On the occasion of the Fibonacci Day the Museo Galileo and the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale of Florence (BNCF) are launching online Liber abbaci, a treatise by the great mathematician Fibonacci also known as Leonardo Pisano (Pisa, ca. 1170 circa – ca. 1242). Liber abbaci can be rightfully considered one of the most important works in the history of Western mathematics since it introduced the Hindu-Arabic numeral system into Europe.
We would like to acknowledge the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism (MiBACT) and the BNCF for permitting us to publish online the full digital reproduction of the MS Conv. Soppr. C.I.2616, which is preserved in the BNCF and is one of the nineteen known manuscript copies of Fibonacci’s work.
