At the end of the Leonardo's celebration year and on the anniversary of Masaccio's birth (21 December 1401), Firenze promotes a day dedicated to Art and Science, thanks to the synergy among the Uffizi Galleries, the Museo Galileo and the Museo di Palazzo Vecchio with MUS.E. An integrated programme - aimed to remember the artist Gianni Miglietta - proposing suggestive activity "tastings" in three different venues to discover the fascinating world of perspective.
In Palazzo Vecchio the room of the scenographic laboratory Magnifici Apparati Prospettici - which was created in 2001 by Gianni Miglietta and Stella Battaglia - will be renewed for the occasion and re-opened to the public. Accessible thanks to a secret passage in the Room of Geographical Maps, its atmosphere is magical and magnificent and it is full of interactive devices: from the perspective gallery to the camera obscura, from the anamorphosis to the Leonardian glass. The artist Stella Battaglia will take part and illustrate the principles that inspired the realization of the scenographic workshop.
At the Museo Galileo the public will be introduced to the geometry of vision: through simple experiences it will be possible to directly observe and experiment some instruments that go back to the origins of the Renaissance perspective.
At the Uffizi Galleries visitors will admire, appropriately commented, some works that have marked the fundamental stages of the application of perspective to pictorial art during the Renaissance period.
With the contribution of the Consiglio Regionale della Toscana.
