From 26 May 2018—and through the whole 2019—the Galleria Civica Montevergini in Syracuse is home to Archimedes in Syracuse, a spin-off of the exhibition Archimedes: The Art and Science of Invention (Rome, Capitoline Museums, May 2013 - January 2014), which illustrated Archimedes’ extraordinary contribution to technical and scientific knowledge in Antiquity and the following centuries. Working models of the machines invented by Archimedes and videos showing how they worked are on display. An innovative immersive installation allows visitors to visually and emotionally situate themselves in 3rd-century B.C. Syracuse.
