On Monday, June 20, a delegation of the James Madison Council of the Library of Congress, Washington D.C., led by the Librarian of Congress, James Hadley Billington, visited Museo Galileo and its Library. The James Madison Council is the Library's private sector donor group whose mission is to bring the impressive collection of human knowledge of the Library to people all over the United States and the world. The Council also supports important projects and significant acquisitions (such as the famous Waldseemüller Map). This visit is part of the Great Libraries of the World Tour of Italy which is aimed to secure partners in the UNESCO-supported World Digital Library project.
