On Monday, April 1st, 2013 the Galileo Museum offers visitors guided tours focused on the instruments for measuring time, which are displayed in the museum’s main collection.
The 50 minute activity starts outside the museum with a description of the monumental sundial located in Piazza dei Giudici. It continues in the halls of the first floor where visitors will admire a variety of sundials and nocturnals, and the splendid Antonio Santucci’s armillary sphere.
In the last part of the visit the operator will show visitors how some of the original instruments, such as the mechanical paradox, optical toys and electrical machines work, through the use of replicas.
The visits will take place at 10.30am, 3pm and 4.30pm. Participation in the activity is free since it is included in the museum entrance fee.
The activities will be held in Italian.
