On May 31, 2013 the Museo Galileo will be open from 8 to 11pm to propose, in collaboration with the Istituto Calamandrei in Sesto Fiorentino (Florence) and the Rubelli Textiles Company, a very special voyage in time.
The evening’s protagonists will be the pupils of the Calamandrei School, dressed in epoch costumes, who will welcome visitors and give life to the wonderful halls of Museo Galileo.
In the rooms hosting the Medici collections Galileo Galilei, accompanied by a noble lady, will tell about his own life and discoveries. Visitors will be able to admire the beautiful scientific instruments on display, particularly the original Galilean instruments: the two telescopes, the jovilabe and the geometric and military compass.
The Lorraine section, which hosts the electrostatic, electromagnetic, mechanic, magnetic and physics instruments, will be explained by dames and chevalier in precious epoch costumes. The visitors will relive the Age of Enlightenment and the playful atmosphere of the seventeen hundreds “didactic evenings” thanks to the magnificent damask and brocade garments.
The cost of the event (which will take place in Italian) is included in the entrance fee.
