As part of this year's “Amico Museo” initiative, which is sponsored by the Regione Toscana and aims to enhance Tuscan museums' collections, Museo Galileo presents “Lo spettacolo della scienza ai tempi di Pietro Leopoldo” (The Spectacle of Science in the Time of Pietro Leopoldo), a fascinating journey through the history of static electricity. Two 60-minute visits (in Italian) are scheduled on Saturday, May 25:
- 10am: a visit designed for the visually impaired, who will be able to tactically explore a selection of originals and replicas in order for them to better understand how the instruments are made and work. In this case the entrance and the visit are free for the visually impaired and their companions.
- 11am: a theatrical visit with an operator dressed in costume, who will show visitors the phenomenon related to electrostatics, by creating sparks by rubbing materials or through induction. Cost of this activity: museum entrance fee + 2 Euro.
Reservations are not required but highly recommended as there are only 30 spots available.
