Accademia dei Georgofili, Logge Uffizi Corti, Florence 12 May – 28 July 2015
Monday through Friday, 15:00-18:00
The exhibition deals with topics –agriculture, science, food– at the centre of many world expositions of the past, that are a strong connection to the theme of EXPO Milano 2015, i.e.“Feeding the planet, energy for life.”
The exhibition looks over the role of Tuscan scientific institutions in the world expositions between 1851 and 1911. In addition, it aims at stimulating reflexion upon the agricultural and food system in Tuscany and its links to scientific research.
Florence and World Expositions / World Expositions in Florence is organized by Accademia dei Georgofili, Museo di Storia Naturale-Università di Firenze and Museo Galileo. In particular, Museo Galileo created the virtual exhibition that supplements the physical show and makes available a number of online resources including a digital library of books and manuscripts linked to exhibition topics.
