The two-day international conference celebrated the 500th anniversary of Martin Waldseemüller’s 1516 Carta Marina. The whole morning session of October 7, 2016 was devoted to the world premiere of A Land beyond the Stars. Amerigo Vespucci and Martin Waldseemüller’s Map of the World (1507), a multimedia interactive website on the great Waldseemüller’s planisphere where the newly discovered lands beyond the Atlantic Ocean were given the name “America” for the first time ever. A Land beyond the Stars was created by the Museo Galileo in collaboration with the Library of Congress.
