The Apiarium by Federico Cesi represents one of the most significant chapters in the vast naturalistic works of the historical scholar and literary conceived by the Accademia dei Lincei. Immediately before the Apiarium, Cese published and distributed his work Melissographia, a beautiful table engraved by Matthias Greuter that includes a trigone of bees completed by the accurately designed series showing anatomical details obtained through observations made with a microscope.
