The equestrian bronze monument to Francesco Sforza –to which Leonardo da Vinci has been working during the last twenty years of the 15th century– was one of the boldest technological challenges of the Italian Renaissance. This virtual exhibition, which has been specially created for Europeana Collections, tells the story of the never-completed colossal statue through Da Vinci’s notes and drawings, in particular those collected in Madrid Ms. II. Fascinating animated movies virtually recreate the complex casting process which was designed by Leonardo.
