The exhibition pivots on Salvador Dalì’s aesthetic reflection on the Platonic solids associated with the four elements. Also on display is a series of gold pieces designed and coined by the Spanish artist during the decade 1966-1975 to recall the splendour at the court of Louis XIV. In the same way that the Sun King’s portrait adorned the Louis d’Or, each Dalì d’Or is a portrait of the artist or of Gala, his eternal muse. These coins are assembled as cells in living organisms to create multiform artworks.
The work of Dalì bears witness to the unfailing and constant research for the laws governing all the operations of nature which is shared by artists and scientists.
