This exhibition displays machines for physiotherapy and rehabilitation made between the 19th and 20th centuries in the machine shop of the Istituto Fisioterapico e Radiologico Gabbrielli-Bacci in Florence. The Istituto Gabbrielli-Bacci recently donated them to the Museo di Storia della Scienza. These apparatus bear witness to the popularization of physiotherapy in Florence in the wake of other Italian and foreign cities. Historical records and period photographs give a more complete picture of this branch of medicine and its application in therapeutic practices.
