Within the VAST project, the Museo Galileo has assumed two significant roles:
- It conducted a series of questionnaires addressed to museum curators, museum educators, scholars, directors, artists, creative teams, and other stakeholders involved in values communication. This initiative had a dual objective: on one hand, to understand if and to what extent these stakeholders consider it important to promote reflection on moral values within the cultural institutions in which they operate; on the other hand, it aimed to adapt and implement the VAST digital platform to best meet their needs.
- It devised four educational activities for students of all classes and ages, along with a theatrical performance - entirely written and performed by the museum's staff - for the general public. All activities, centred around the theme of the journey to new lands and celestial worlds, draw inspiration from 17th-century texts, including works by Margaret Cavendish, Francis Godwin, John Wilkins, Cyrano de Bergerac, Fontenelle, Galileo Galilei, Johannes Kepler, Francis Bacon, Vincenzo Viviani, Lorenzo Magalotti, and Robert Hooke. The aim is to stimulate reflection on the intrinsic values of the presented texts and, through museum collection instruments, to promote a debate among students and the general public on the role these values play in contemporary society.
