Following the echo of the ERASMUS+ Call related to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, the project aims to offer unique science learning opportunities to school communities, by establishing new forms of cooperation between schools, science museums and science centers in order to contribute to the access to and sharing of digital tools, services and learning resources. The project will comprise a collection of innovative activities in forms of blended education. These will be based on the Open Schooling Model and will be designed following the principles of Responsible Research and Innovation, addressing accessibility within the larger framework of Universal Design of Learning (UDL).
VIRTUAL PATHWAYS will integrate student-centered methodologies such as exploration and inquiry-based learning to improve students’ problem-solving skills, while increasing their interest in STEM topics. The project will also provide opportunities for teachers to develop their professional expertise by mastering the use and adaptation of design thinking, project-based teaching, inquiry-based learning, collaborative learning, as well as teaching techniques that introduce interdisciplinary learning.
The pathways will cover several thematic areas, including the Natural History of Europe starting in the Jurassic era, the first Scientific Revolution with the discoveries of Galileo, the Nobel Prize ideas that changed the world and the nowadays challenges related to climate change. The project will be implemented in 200 schools in 4 member states (Finland, Sweden, Italy and Greece).
Museo Galileo will develop ICT based Virtual Pathways on 17th century astronomical discoveries and will coordinate the development of the Training Programme and Materials.
