The Museo Galileo keeps a collection of documents related to the 1st National exhibition of the history of science. In addition, the collection includes photographs taken by the Alinari brothers, which show the layout of the rooms, the most important apparatus and instruments displayed, and numerous portraits of physicians and scientists. The complete list of photographs appears in the Alinari sales catalogue (see.: Fotografie di apparecchi e strumenti alla Esposizione di storia della scienza. Florence, 1930, and: Ritratti di scienziati. Esposizione di storia della scienza, Florence, 1930). The 300 or so photographs are also available in the digital version. Those not owned by the Museo Galileo can be seen at the archive of the Alinari National museum of photography in Florence.
In addition, the Museum possesses many photographic series, panels and loose photos that were displayed in its halls and were acquired, through legacies or donations, by the former Institute of the history of science (now the Museo Galileo). Many of the photographs still bear the inventory numbers for the Exhibition.
