Pompeii: The Immortal City
Arlington Museum of Art, 1200 Ballpark Way, Arlington, TX 76011, USA
30 March - 23 June 2024
This exhibition reveals the extraordinary level of naturalistic, scientific and technical knowledge achieved in Pompeii and the Roman world on the eve of Vesuvius eruption in 79 AD. Highlights include over 100 authentic artifacts and artworks found during archaeological excavations, recreations of machines used in ancient Rome, immersive sequences, and 3D representations. The exhibition takes visitors on a fascinating journey through space and time.
The exhibition—curated by Giovanni Di Pasquale—is the outcome of the collaboration between Museo Galileo and the National Archaeological Museum of Naples. The Arlington show is the seven venue of an international tour which started in 2017 and reached several cities in the USA, Canada and Belgium as well. Pompeii: The Immortal City is the inaugural headline exhibition of the new Arlington Museum of Art.
On that occasion, Giovanni Di Pasquale will give a lecture as part of the AMA Art Talks.
