Pietro Omodeo
(1919-2024)
On Sunday January 21, Pietro Omodeo died in Siena at the age of 104.
A biology and zoology lecturer at various Italian universities, prof. Omodeo had been interested in the history of scientific thought since the 1960s, dealing in particular with the history of biology and evolutionism and editing the works of Darwin and Lamarck.
His latest book, dedicated to Amerigo Vespucci, dates back to 2021.
The figure of the scholar and his passion for the history of science are evident from his personal library, that includes about 2,500 books collected over the course of his long life and kept in the Museo Galileo Library since 2003.
